CREEPMAS!!!! Here is a copy of my Halloween show on baconrock.com (The most awesome online radio station EVER) give it a listen:)
Welcome to the Dark Domain. I am your hostess Daphne and I've wormed my way out of my body bag in the Bacon Cave to drizzle a little bloody flavor on....things. So pull up your cauldron and catch a whiff of Horror. Get out your parchment and ink and write down these suggestions to spice up your Halloween like never before. Tired of following the beaten path of Horror movies? I have Picked My Brains just for you. Let's start with black and white movies, your imagination will love you 1) Carnival Of Souls (1962), A surreal, haunting, effective Horror film shot in Lawrence Ks./Salt Lake City Utah 2) Spider Baby (1968) A dark, well acted film that includes Lon Chaney Jr. and Sid Haig, Cannibalism anyone?
What is creepier than, Deranged fantasy VS Cold reality? I suggest Lucky Mckees films 1) May (2002)
2) Roman (2006)
For a night filled with sheer terror try on some Cronenberg's fare for size (1977) 1) Rabid- starring Marilyn Chambers. She develops an insatible desire for blood, searches out victims and infects them which swiftly drives them insane and equally bloodthirsty! 2) The Brood (1979) starring Oliver Reed and Samantha Eggar
A masterpiece of psychological Horror. About how misdirected rage can literally take on a life of its own.
My favorite Horror sub genre is ZOMBIES and what film could satisfy a gore-tooth? J.R. Bookwalters The Dead Next Door (1989) Independent filmaking at its bloody finest. Are you in the mood for crazy alien action? Jake West's Evil Aliens (2005) will have you twitching and laughing at the same time. 2) Altered
from the writer-director of the Blair Witch Project comes the shocking story of four men determined to exact revenge against the savage alien life form that held them prisoner and killed their friend.
Do you need a film that includes creepy cemataries , flying spheres, and the Tall Man? Phantasm is the film for you (1979)
My personal favorite for "Slasher, Killer-in-a-mask movie" is Laid To Rest (2009) Being pursued by Chromeskull will give you nightmares forever. From Ghosts and Ghouls to infection and zombies, aliens, otherworldly creatures and slasher/killers here's the list again
1) Carnaval Of Souls (1962)
2) Spider Baby (1968)
3) May (2002)
4) Roman (2006)
5) Rabid (1977)
6) The Brood (1979)
7) The Dead Next Door (1989)
8) Evil Aliens (2005)
9) Altered (2006)
10) Phantasm (1979)
11) Laid To Rest (2009)
There you go a mix and match of movies that will give you a shiver...or two...enjoy Ghoulies...Happy Halloween!!!
