I have the pleasure of interviewing Joel Hulett. Hello Joel! Tell us a little about yourself and how you came to be involved with the Oklahoma Horror Fest.
What part (or parts) of the involvement you have in the Horror Fest gives you the most satisfaction?
What part (or parts) of the involvement you have in the Horror Fest gives you the most satisfaction?
Interacting with the cast, crew, and filmmakers of these films and hearing their stories. I guess they could relate to me since we make films also, and they opened their hearts to me and shared some amazing stuff. And then just watching these films over and over to decide the schedule and in review of the awards categories, I was unprepared for the affection that would develop for these films.
How do all these wonderful horror films find their way into the Horror Fest?
Filmmakers submit their films for consideration and we select the ones which are accepted. We started in January aggressively seeking submissions by contacting the film commission of every state in U.S., province in Canada, and the film ministries of many countries around the world. We received films too from all over the world. Once we received them, we would go through a process of review, scoring the film in 11 different categories on a hundred point scale. Anything scoring over 90 was automatically accepted. The other films would move on to additional scoring reviews and would advance according to the composite score.
How many years has the Oklahoma Horror Fest been in place?

This is our first year, but our company, Dolphin Bay Films, has been in the film industry for ten years and we have been planning this for a long time.
Is there a central website to check out the trailers and schedules?

We hope we've answered any question one might have on our website at www.oklahomahorrorfilmfest.com. Updates can also be found on our Facebook page.
Final question: What personally creeps you out?
LOL, spiders. I'm getting itchy just thinking about it.
Thank you for your time Joel.
